ABOUT US
Dr. Jennie Chun grew up in Southern California the youngest of seven daughters, and graduated with a B.S. in Biology from Cal State Fullerton. Dr. Randy Chun grew up in Hawaii and graduated from the University of the Pacific with a B.S. in Biology also. They met as classmates at the Southern California College of Optometry. Following graduation they were married and dreamed of one day opening an optometry practice together and starting a family. They were about a week away from closing escrow on a local optometry practice when their lives suddenly changed.
They were driving down to meet their friends from the Fullerton Free Church at a campsite for the Memorial Day weekend in 2000 when their right rear tire blew out and they were involved in a serious car accident. Literally in the blink of an eye their lives changed. Thankfully no other cars were involved and no one else was injured. However, Dr. Jennie sustained a head injury that still can cause headaches. Dr. Randy sustained a cervical spinal cord injury that caused paralysis from his neck down. Following an intensive rehabilitation process and not finding employment for Dr. Randy, they prayerfully decided to open an office locally where they could both work together. A door was opened to them and Aloha Family Optometry was established for patient care in June of 2005.
Since then they have been doing their best to provide quality, innovative, and effective eye care solutions one patient at a time. As their practice continues to grow through patient referrals, they remain committed to spend time to get to know their patient’s needs. They’re pleased to provide their ohana (family) of patients with the latest and best in eyeglasses, sunglasses, contact lenses, and refractive and cataract surgery options available, and manage and treat various eye health conditions including dry eyes. When asked what the secret of their success was to open and establish Aloha Family Optometry, they attribute it to a loving marriage, incredibly supportive family, friends and patients, and an ongoing faith and trust in the goodness of God. They welcome you to AlohaFamilyOptometry.net for more information, and to come experience a touch of Aloha in the city of Placentia.
